Harry Hotspur is a unique buckskin blanketed Sportaloosa (Appaloosa sport horse) gelding located in Queensland, Australia.

Harry is by the very highly classified Hanoverian stallion Earl (Escudo I – Lanthan – Aragon bloodlines).

The Celle State Stud owned black stallion, Earl, has been proclaimed Best Hanoverian Stallion Born in 1999 in the Niedersachsenhalle in Verden, Germany.

Earl is by Escudo out of Ladina (by Lanthan x Aragorn). The same dam line produced dressage horse Whitney (by Watzmann) and the licensed stalion Wittfield (by Watzmann).

In 2002, Earl became the champion of the 2002 Stallion Performance Test. He scored 143.91 overall; 139.93 (2) in dressage and 127.55 (3) in jumping. He is known for the good movement and conformation of his offspring.

Earl's sire, Escudo I was the winner of the stallion performance test in 1994 and achieved a convincing 144.90 points in the jumping category. He is a son of the Celle State stallion Espri, who is known worldwide for producing outstanding jumping horses.

Escudo I exhibited phenomenal jumping talent at testing and won the six-year-old Jumper Champion title in 1997. He was also the winner of several show jumping competitions at "S" level in 1999. Escudo I is outstanding in type and expression, is well-muscled and has excellent gaits. So far, Escudo I has produced convincing crops of foals, including several winning foals at regional foal shows and the top price foal of the Verden Spring Auction in 1998.

Earl's dam sire is Lanthan. For a very long time Hanoverian breeders have preferred the elegant Lanthan as a producer of excellent dressage horses. But he also has proven to be an important sire of jumping horses. Because of these successes, Lanthan was for many years placed first in the overall breed values of the National Equestrian Federation (FN).

Over his breeding career Lanthan has produced many successful performance horses as well as 15 licensed sons and 65 state's premium mares.

His offspring are mostly beautiful horses with elastic movements and a great rideability. They are known for being typy, with good interior attributes and above average rideability. He has sired many conformation champions in Germany and his daughters and their descendants are noted broodmares.

The high percentage of Thoroughbred blood in his pedigree makes him a valuable performance and refinement sire. In 1999 Lanthan was the stallion with the highest breeding value in his age-group.

Harry is out of the Supreme Appaloosa mare from the Australian Appaloosa Nationals Cayuse Few Moon.

Genetically Harry has been DNA tested. He contains the cream, agouti, black and red genes as well as the appaloosa gene Lp and blanket patterning genes!(EeAaCrcr)

He is registered with SportaloosaAAA and ACE.
